Their focus on enabling smart, connected devices underscores their commitment to shaping the future of technology.

Role: UX/UI Designer

Tools: Xd, FigJam, AEM

Timeline: 4 Weeks

Objective:

The goal was to create a seamless and intuitive website interface, enabling users to initiate and navigate the Amazon Sidewalk project creation process and empowering them to comprehend and engage with its capabilities efficiently.

Challenge:

The primary challenge revolved around grasping the essence of Amazon Sidewalk, compounded by the absence of existing products for reference. The task involved navigating through the conceptual landscape to gain a deep understanding, paving the way for effective project development in uncharted territory.

Process:

The Amazon Sidewalk project began with a thorough interview process involving key engineers to gain insights into the anticipated user journey. This initial step aimed to understand the intricacies of the project and identify the necessary user actions. Following the interviews, the project team transitioned to the visual collaboration platform, Figjam, to outline and define the sequential steps that users would undertake.

The Figjam platform provided an effective medium for visually representing the proposed process, allowing for collaborative input from team members. Through this collaborative effort, the team was able to establish a clear and actionable framework for users, ensuring that the steps were not only easy to understand but also aligned with the project's objectives.

The process summary, developed in Figjam, served as a blueprint for the subsequent phases of the project, facilitating a shared understanding among team members and stakeholders. This visual representation played a crucial role in refining and optimizing the user experience, ultimately contributing to the creation of an intuitive and user-friendly pathway for individuals engaging with the Amazon Sidewalk project.

Once the steps for the Amazon Sidewalk process were defined in Figjam, the next phase involved the creation of high-fidelity wireframes. This step aimed to determine the optimal layout for the website component, ensuring that it effectively serves its purpose in guiding users through the project creation process. The wireframing process focused on the visual and structural aspects, providing a blueprint for the user interface that aligns seamlessly with the defined steps and enhances the overall user experience.

Following the creation of the wireframes, we conducted usability tests and A/B tests to refine the user experience. These tests helped in evaluating the effectiveness of the wireframes, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring alignment with user expectations. Usability tests provided valuable insights into user interactions, while A/B tests allowed us to compare different design variations and make data-driven decisions. The iterative refinement process based on these tests ensured that the final wireframes were not only visually appealing but also optimized for user engagement. This approach laid the foundation for the subsequent development of the developer journey component, ensuring that the end product seamlessly aligned with user needs and preferences.

Outcome:

Page Visits Increase: Achieved a significant boost of 46.5% in page visits.

Enhanced User Engagement: Successfully increased the time spent on the page, reaching 3 minutes.

These outcomes affirm the project's success in not only attracting a higher number of visitors but also in significantly improving user interaction and engagement with the Amazon Sidewalk page. Not only does this demonstrate improved platform metrics but also contribute to Silicon Labs' reputation as a preferred and innovative design partner for Amazon Sidewalk.
